Any of these Symptoms means your PSP is Bricked.
The trickiest part is to set the Battery in to Service Mode or Tool Mode
and to do this you need to program the battery.
Trying to do this yourself could result in damaging the battery.
Usually this only happens if you use an incompatible battery.
You can use the Battery to upgrade the Firmware you can then install homebrew
software and much more. Note that you need both the Pandora Battery and Magic Memory Stick (MMS) to be able to do this
Basically to give you an idea what needs to be done to upgrade or downgrade your PSP Firmware. Your PSP needs to be unlocked from Normal Mode and Switched over to Service Mode. To do this you need a special battery (Pandora Battery).
I say this to make it seam simpler whereas in fact all that needs to be done is to program the battery to work in a different way.
Once the battery is switched into the Service Mode it can not be used in Normal Mode and needs to be switched back in order for you to play games etc.
This is not a problem either as the Battery can be switched from Service to Normal
as many times as you like. If you have a better spare battery then I would just keep one in Service Mode. The Higher the mAh by rule the longer the battery will last, i.e. 1800mAh is better than 1200mAh and 3600mAh is Very Good. Don’t be tempted to buy the 4950mAh as it is Fake.

Note: that the M33 Firmware allows you to switch the
“UMD needed in drive required mode to off.
” Otherwise you need a UMD in the drive to run anything.
From Off state, Hold the Right Trigger Button and switch on, after 5-8 Seconds a screen with options will appear.
Select [Configuration] then
Select [UMD Mode Currently: Normal –UMD Required] so that it says no UMD required. This wont disable your UMD in any way though.
