Hi I am Colin. From London. For many years I have been repairing just about anything that comes my way. Ever since I can remember the very first thing I would do when I got a new gadget would be to open it up, check it out and explore. There was a stage where I would leave the gadgets in bits and screws into a box, got most of the enjoyment taking things apart.
Some years later on the spur of the moment I decided to put everything back together again. I had just as much fun doing this as I had taking things apart.
I started repairing electrical and electronic goods after hearing people getting ripped of by cowboy engineers.
We set up some tests on a few just to prove to my friends. I purposely blew an internal fuse and called out a few engineers for an estimate. In those days they used to do house calls.
Only one out of four where honest enough to tell us it was a silly fuse, he changed the fuse and charged for the call out only. One of them had the cheek to charge £150 stating that it was a big problem and the main board needed replacing all for the sake of a 10 penny fuse. We reported these cowboys and soon after this, not to our doing though the issue was reported on Scandinavian TV.
So as from these days I never use repair people or shops and do all the repairs myself.
